This was the first PWA slalom event at Austria’s Lake Neusiedl. Ross Williams from Great Britain showed the best consistency in his race results and took the event’s title in Podersdorf. He finished the 2008 season on fourth place overall, and in this year he is still a serious competitor for title holder Antoine Albeau (FRA). Through this victory, Williams underlined his objectives for a place on the podium in slalom 2009.
The three times Slalom World Champion and speed record holder Albeau, finished the Podersdorf event as second best. A start line collision in the second race threw back his winning series, which he started in race one, and spoiled his victory.
The Argentinean Gonzalo Costa Hoevel took a remarkably third place in Podersdorf. His special discipline is Formula Windsurfing, which has its own world cup series. The 28 years old Argentinean now showed his caliber in a PWA slalom competition.
The winners of the Dwarf8 PWA Surf World Cup are as follows:
1. Ross Williams (GB)
2. Antoine Albeau (FRA)
3. Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG)
