After five days of windsurf action and an exciting side events program, the Flens Surf Cup 2009 (July 22. – 26. 2009) finished on Sunday, leaving over 100.000 visitors in eager anticipation for the next round in the upcoming season. Bernd Flessner once again emphasized his skills during the finals of the German Championship, and won the Overall Victory. He was awarded for his 14th German Champion Title.
Formula Windsurfing (Racing)
In the racing discipline, the record champion was in the lead in all heats and fetched the title for his outstanding performance. He forced his competitors Vincent Langer from Kiel and Helge Wilkens from Hannover to the places two and three.
Slalom
And also in the slalom discipline, the now 14th times German Champion Flessner triumphed. But here he had to struggle considerably harder. Vincent Langer and Gunnar Asmussen both managed to take victories in some heats. Klaas Voget from Hamburg also showed a constantly high performance. In the end, Gunnar Asmussen landed on second place, ahead of Vincent Langer and Klaas Voget.
Wave/Freestyle
In wave/freestyle everything got mixed up. The German youngster Philip Köster, who lives at Gran Canaria, met the great expectations after his victory at the World Cup at Pozo, by defeating also the German elite in wave freestyle clearly. In an enthralling and very tight final, with a mixture of jumps, wave rides and freestyle maneuvers, he left Klaas Voget onto the second place. Fabian Weber from Munich once again proofed that he must be counted to the row of Germany’s best freestylers by reaching the third place. Through this victory, Köster secured the title of the German Champion in wave/freestyle.
The overall ranking, which is generated of the two best results of each participant, wins Flessner plainly. Vincent Langer goes for the second place overall, ahead of Klaas Voget and Helge Wilkens.
