What is basic principle for youngsters who impress the judges at international championships with their wide range of freestyle moves?  A well structured youth promotion program might be helpful. The youth project KeikiSurfer complements the existing structure of windsurf clubs voluntary since 2004. Keiki is translated from Hawaiian with offspring.

A Concept with an ordinary Style
The project KeikiSurfer encourages a stable team of five kids over three years. The talents are selected in a several weeks lasting casting process. Crucial are a high potential regarding the sport and social abilities. Within the time of promotion do the kids achieve exceptional skills. This can be reached by demanding training schedules and enormous ambition. These premises facilitate to instruct same aged kids within the VDWS-KeikiSurfer-Roadshow. The attendees can improve their windsurfing abilities for free one day long. Furthermore do they get in contact with other kids sharing their hobbies.

High Expectations
The idea of KeikiSurfer was generating new blood in windsurfing. Unbound from the fixation on championships and always combined with a lot of fun is all about free development and steadily growing tasks for the team riders. That is how KeikiSurfer combines surfing with all day use. The massive public relations contribute to keeping youths away from getting onto the wrong tracks.

The VDWS-KeikiSurfer-Roadshow
Within the summer months is the KeikiSurfer team touring through central Europe. Relying on the young and dynamic freestyle discipline instruct the KeikiSurfer riders other youths. Jumped rotations release amazement at the observers. The attendees, addicted to learn, are split into small teams. Each KeikiSurfer instructs one group and is admired pretty fast by his same aged students. After explaining the complicated moves ashore and dry practicing follows the realization on the water. To round off and evaluate the day, there are shown photos and videos in the evenings.

New Efforts
KeikiSurfer wants to offer the fun of windsurfing to a wide spread class of population. Therefore, a new module will offer workshops for students directly after school. In Hamburg, the foundation of the townsmen contributes to the project and mobilizes socially disadvantaged kids. In cooperation with the VDWS windsurf centres will be created comparative activities very soon.
