After two days of perfect freestyle wind conditions, the wind reached not enough power on the final day to allow some more action. So the results stayed the same as after the two double eliminations at day one and two.
Once more Steven van Broeckhoven impressed with his consistent powerful, fluid new school freestyle moves. But he was beaten once in the single elimination on day two by Nicolas Akgaczyan, who is a serious competitor on the tour. For the first time in this season Steven did not make it in the final of an elimination and had to battle in the loosers’ round.
The Vice-Champion of the EFPT King of the Bay 2009 is called Andre Paskowski. The tall German guy also showed a convincing show. He had to give in to Steven van Broeckhoven on day one in the jump-off of the first double elimination. Andre decided the first heat for him but had not enough power left for the decisive one. He crashed often while Steven landed most of his difficult moves. It was a solid run from Van Broeckhoven which made him win this super final and the first double elimination. Andre Paskowski finished the second competition day as winner of the losers’ final, so on the third position of the double elimination.
The last one of the podium positions went to Nicolas Akgaczyan. The Frenchman showed a solid performance on day one, but was overthrown in a very close fight by Davy Scheffers, who also started in a very good season 2009 having reached two second places already. Nicolas was more lucky on day two, when he showed an impressive heat with a great mix of fluent new school moves and kicked out Steven van Broeckhoven. Nicolas won the single elimination on the second competition day. Steven now had to beat Nico twice to win the second double and went fully focused into the final against Nicolas. With his usual power style and high technical moves he fulfilled the mission and was able to win against Nicolas Akgaczyan two times in a row and took the victory of the second double elimination. This should remain as the result of the King of the Bay 2009 in the end.
Result:
1. Steven van Broeckhoven (BEL)
2. Andre Paskowski (GER)
3. Nicolas Akgaczyan (FRA)
