Lake Neusiedl is situated between Austria and Hungary. This year once again, its Austrian shore will host a Windsurf-World Cup of a special kind. From April 30 to May 10, 2009 the international elite in windsurfing will come together to fight for points for the international PWA slalom and the European freestyle (EFPT) rankings. This year it’s already the eleventh edition of the Surf Worldcup Podersdorf. The who-is-who of the international windsurfing competition circus will participate. But for the first time, the event will be sponsored by Dwarf8. The “world’s hardest soft drink “ is already well known within the circles of the pro windsurfers. At Podersdorf the dwarf will take its first step into the Austrian market.
Two international competitions at highest level
Saturday April 30 is kick off day for the competitions. 45.000 Euro prize money will be distributed amongst the winners. It starts off with the Freestyle Classix of the EFPT. The world’s best freestyle windsurfers will present their latest tricks, which they have invented during the winter training months. And this will please the spectators: there is a new competition system which will guarantee even more spectacular freestyle action. The Dwarf8 Surf Worldcup Podersdorf once again will be the rendezvous of the freestyle stars at the beginning of the season.

At Tuesday May 5, the slalom pilots will gear up for their races. Until May 10, there are daily races which will all count in the PWA overall ranking. Like in freestyle, also the slalom races will be fought between the grand names of speed windsurfing. In this season 2009 the multiple windsurf World Champion in several disciplines Björn Dunkerbeck will do all he can to catch the slalom overall title. But he will get serious opposition from his hardest rival, windsurf-speed-record holder and reigning World Champion Antoine Albeau. Finian Maynard, who was long time speed world record holder before Albeau, will also claim the title for himself. Though, the spectators can look forward to top races with all-star cast.
What have Dunkerbeck and famous German Hip Hip artist Thomas D. in common? Both come to Podersdorf!
It is not alone the attractive sport event that allures the world class windsurfers to the small country of mountains and valleys. They, and all of the other 50.000 visitors, are also attracted by the formidable side event program. On each competition day, up to date equipment of some companies is presented and there are also test facilities. To distract oneself or to pass the time between the competitions, the event offers other funny activities like Speedminton, Paintball, Slalckline, Segway driving or Stand-Up-Paddling.

Not alone during daytime, one can have a nice stay at the Surf World Cup in Podersdorf. Also in the night some very nice parties can be attended. On the weekends local bands like the reggae combo Mono and Nikitamen benefit from their home advantage. Its musically highlight reaches the Dwarf8 Surf Worldcup Podersdorf on Saturday May 9, when German hip hop star Thomas D. enters the stage.
