The IWA was founded in January 2001 with the aim to offer the windsurfsport a central contact adress with a platform for all kinds of questions and to manage special competition classes. “Unite, assist and serve” is their slogan. Foundation members were the International Boarsailing Association (IBSA) and the International Funboard Class Association (IFCA). The IWA also cooperates with the PWA.
