The right equipment…

Big starter boards (with daggerboard) are very stable and have a great upwind performance. If you want to improve your level, you will be able to use funboards (without daggerboard) pretty soon. Wave-, Freestyle- and Slalomboards can be recommended for more advanced sailors and special conditions. Freerideboards fit best to your level and accompany you on the way to the first jumps.

The crucial thing is to pick the right size. A general rule of thumb for slightly advanced sailors is: Body weight + 80 = recommended board volume

Your sail should be light and easy to rig. Sails without cambers are recommended, because they are cheaper and easier to handle. Using different sail sizes with one mast and boom is not a problem, all components can be changed in length. Sail size depends on the wind force, weight and skills.

The best thing is to visit a shop and ask for professional counsel. You will find the nearest Shop through the Spot Guide.
